SuperWeld bonds all metals, stone, concrete and fiberglass, and works on rigid plastic, glass, ceramic, rubber, cloth and wood. It will not work on polystyrene or Styrofoam, which the adhesive dissolves rather than bonds. It is also the wrong choice for a joint that needs to flex, such as a shower floor tile, where a silicone sealant allows the movement the joint needs.

SuperWeld sets in about 10 seconds with no clamping needed, and reaches full cure in 24 hours. Hold the parts together for those first seconds, then leave the repair undisturbed overnight before you put any load on it. Rated strength is 3500 PSI. Apply above freezing: cold surfaces slow the cure and give you a weaker bond.

Treat 200 degrees F as the continuous working limit for a cured SuperWeld bond, and it holds down to about 0 degrees F. If the part sees more heat than that, such as a heating element, a stovetop trim piece or anything near an exhaust, use a high temperature RTV silicone or one of our epoxies instead. Sustained heat above the limit softens a cyanoacrylate bond.

Cyanoacrylate cures on contact with moisture in the air, so an opened bottle has a limited life, roughly a year. Store it in the refrigerator to get the most out of it, and wipe the tip clean before you cap it so the cap does not glue itself shut. Let a chilled bottle warm to room temperature before you open it, so condensation does not form inside.

No. SuperWeld is a medium viscosity liquid, not a gap filler, so the two surfaces have to meet closely for the bond to hold. If there is a visible gap, a missing chunk of material or a chipped edge, use a two part epoxy such as J-B Weld Original or Plastic Bonder, which you can build up, shape and sand once cured.

A single edge razor blade is the most reliable way to take cured SuperWeld off a hard surface. Hold the blade nearly flat and shave the glue rather than digging into it. Acetone will soften cured cyanoacrylate on materials that tolerate the solvent, but test a hidden spot first, because acetone attacks many plastics and painted finishes.

For the longest shelf life, store SuperWeld nose-up in the refrigerator at 34–40°F. Keeping it upright helps keep the tip clear, and the cool temperature extends its usable life.
