Product Details

J-B Weld White Sealant and Adhesive is a general purpose Sealant Adhesive RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanized) Silicone designed for use in household or mechanical assembly applications. Upon curing, which occurs when the product is exposed to the moisture in air, the silicone forms a tough, waterproof, mildew and mold resistant seal on most surfaces. It will not shrink or crack, resists weathering, is sensor safe and is great for many household and automotive applications.

How to Use

Prepare

For best results, clean and dry surface area

Apply

Apply even, continuous ¼ inch bead of Silicone to one surface area. Surround all bolt holes with Silicone.

Assemble

Reconnect parts while Silicone is wet.

Secure

Hand tighten until Silicone begins to squeeze out.

Dry

Allow drying for 1 hour and then tighten an additional ½ turn.

Finish

Scrape or cut away excess cured sealant. Silicone will fully cure in 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is White Silicone Sealant UV resistant?

No. It is water resistant, weather resistant, and mold and mildew resistant, but it is not rated as UV resistant, so sustained direct sunlight will eventually degrade and discolor an exposed bead. Use it for interior and sheltered exterior work such as sinks, tubs, tile, trim, and window frames. For a joint in full sun, choose a sealant that carries a UV rating.

Is White Silicone electrically conductive?

No. None of J-B Weld's silicones are electrically conductive, so a cured bead acts as an insulator rather than a conductor. That said, it is not sold or tested as a rated electrical insulation product, so do not rely on it to contain high voltage such as ignition or spark plug voltage. For a damaged high-voltage wire, replace the wire.

What is White Silicone Sealant intended for, and how long does it take to cure?

It is a general-purpose sealant and adhesive for household and light mechanical assembly: sinks, tubs, tile, glass, fiberglass, PVC, wood, and automotive trim. It cures by absorbing moisture from the air into a waterproof, mold and mildew resistant seal that will not shrink or crack. Set time is one hour and full cure is 24 hours. It is sensor safe.

Can I use White Silicone to glue plastic parts together?

Only for sealing, not for structural bonding. It stays flexible and has low tensile strength, so a plastic part under load, wind pressure, or repeated flexing will work loose, and a cracked plastic tray will reopen. For plastic repairs use Plastic Bonder 50139, and for a panel like a roof spoiler use mechanical fasteners rather than any adhesive alone.
