J-B Weld Tiger Patch is a temperature resistant epoxy combined with fiberglass that cures with heat. When in contact with a heat source, this product will cure itself and form a strong, permanent patch to the underlying surface.

How to Use

Prepare

Turn off engine. Clean surface area of oil, dirt, and rust.

Remove

Take off and dispose of brown outer paper. Peel off and discard red plastic film on both sides of the patch.

Apply

For HOT areas, cover hole with aluminum tape before wrapping. Wrap Tiger Patch firmly around damaged area with a 1" overlap. Use aluminum tape or strapping as support to hold Tiger Patch in place while curing.

Cure

Idle motor or drive vehicle for 20 minutes to cure product. Remove aluminum tape or strapping after curing.

How is Tiger Patch different from the Tiger Patch Kit?

Tiger Patch is the epoxy-coated fiberglass patch on its own. The Tiger Patch Kit (39205) is the same patch supplied with aluminum tape and gloves. Both are rated to 600 F and cure the same way with 20 minutes of heat. Buy the patch alone if you already have high-temperature aluminum tape on hand; otherwise the kit has everything you need.

Where on the exhaust system can I use Tiger Patch?

On mufflers and tailpipes, where temperatures stay within its 600 F rating. It is not the right product for a Y-pipe, downpipe, header or manifold, which run hotter; use ExhaustWeld Fiberglass Wrap (38572), rated to 1100 F, for those. Do not drive with an exhaust leak that can put fumes into the passenger cabin.

How do I apply and cure a Tiger Patch?

Shut the engine off and clean oil, dirt and rust off the pipe. Remove the brown outer paper and peel the red plastic film from both sides of the patch. On hot areas, lay aluminum tape over the hole first. Wrap the patch firmly around the damage with a 1 inch overlap, then idle or drive for 20 minutes to cure.

If I am using both a Tiger Patch and an exhaust repair wrap, which goes on first?

The Tiger Patch goes on first and the wrap goes over it. If the area gets hot, lay a strip of aluminum tape over the hole before the patch, then the patch, then secure it with tape. Applying them in that order keeps the patch in contact with the pipe and lets the wrap act as reinforcement over the top.
