J-B Weld does not sell the cream hardener separately. This kit ships with 0.75 oz of hardener for 0.75 pint of putty, and if you run out before the putty is gone, their support team suggests buying Bondo Red Cream Hardener and using that to finish the job. Mixing smaller batches and sticking to the ratio helps the supplied tube go further.

Not the way bare wood takes stain. It cures to a plastic, so a brush-on stain such as a solid color deck stain will not soak in. J-B Weld's support team's method is to mix your stain into the putty while you knead it, then apply it as normal. For a reliable color match on an exterior repair, paint over it instead.

Do not apply it below freezing, because it will not cure fully. J-B Weld's support team gives 50F as the start of the optimal application range, so wait for a warmer day rather than patching at 28F. Once fully cured, the repair itself will withstand temperatures below 0F, so cold is only a problem during application and cure.

On rotted wood, yes. Remove the soft, decayed material, brush on Wood Restore Liquid Hardener until the surface is saturated and looks shiny, and let it harden 2 to 4 hours. That gives the putty firm fibers to bond to. On sound wood with just a gouge, nail hole or dent, you can fill directly with the putty.
