Yes. Once fully cured WoodWeld is a rigid plastic and is water resistant, so it holds up on an exterior post exposed to rain and some sun. The wood must be clean and dry when you apply it. For a large exterior crack, fill most of the depth with regular wood glue or filler and top the last layer with WoodWeld.

WoodWeld sets in 15 minutes and cures in 30 minutes, with a tensile strength of 3770 PSI and a 1:1 mix ratio. It cures tan and forms a bond stronger than the wood itself. Once cured it can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled. Clamp or tape the joint while it sets for the tightest glue line.

The syringe holds 25 ml and that is the only size WoodWeld is offered in. Coverage depends entirely on the joint. A tight glue line goes a long way; a wide crack does not. For large fills, use wood glue or one of J-B Weld's wood fillers for the bulk of the volume and finish with WoodWeld.

No. Thinning WoodWeld reduces its strength and is not recommended. If you need something that flows into deep holes or checks, use a penetrating wood consolidant first. WoodWeld is already more liquid than an epoxy wood putty, so it will work into a reasonably tight joint on its own if you press the parts together while it sets.

Stabilize the rot first. J-B Weld's Wood Restore penetrating stabilizer (40001) soaks into soft, punky wood and hardens it so there is something solid to bond to. Applying WoodWeld straight over rotted fibers gives a bond only as strong as the wood underneath. Remove loose material, let the area dry fully, then stabilize and repair.

It can be sanded and painted once cured, but it will not take stain. It cures tan and stays that color under a stain, so the repair will show. If a repair needs to disappear on a stained finish, use a stainable wood filler instead. For painted work, sand flush after a full cure, then prime before the topcoat.

Store the syringe nose-up rather than lying on its side. Keeping it upright helps prevent the tips from becoming contaminated, so the product stays ready for your next repair.
