J-B Weld ClearWeld Syringe is a quick setting, multipurpose two part epoxy that provides a strong and lasting bond on most surfaces including tile, most plastics, ceramic, glass, wood and metal. ClearWeld is designed to cure with a clear, transparent bond when used at thicknesses of less than 15 mil. Mixed at a ratio of 1:1, ClearWeld sets in 5 minutes and cures in 1 hour. With a tensile strength of 3900 PSI, ClearWeld sets to a hard, permanent bond.

How to Use

Prepare

Clean repair area of dirt, grease, oil, paint, rust, etc.* * For best results use a detergent or degreaser to first clean the surface, then roughen surface with file or coarse sandpaper to provide the best repair

Mix

After removing the replaceable cap, press down on plunger and squeeze equal amounts onto a disposable surface and mix thoroughly.

Apply

Apply with appropriate tool in an even coat, weld bead or extruded shape as needed.

Dry

Sets in 5 minutes. Cures in one hour, and can be sanded, drilled, filed, and tapped.

ClearWeld sets in about 5 minutes and reaches full cure in one hour, mixed 1:1. That makes it the fastest epoxy in the twin tube line, so mix only what you can place within a minute or two. Set time gets longer below 40F. Cured tensile strength is 3900 PSI, lower than J-B Weld Original at 6220 PSI.

Will ClearWeld dry completely clear?

J-B Weld specifies a clear, transparent bond at thicknesses of less than 15 mil, which is a thin bond line rather than a fill. Clarity is not claimed for thicker applications, so keep the layer thin where appearance matters. Sand and clean both surfaces first, since haze in a finished joint usually comes from contamination rather than the epoxy.

Is ClearWeld hard when cured, or does it stay flexible?

ClearWeld does not cure as hard or as rigid as J-B Weld Original; it stays somewhat resilient. If the surface is no longer tacky, it is cured, even if it feels slightly rubbery. Choose J-B Weld Original or MarineWeld when you need a rigid, high-strength repair, and ClearWeld when appearance matters more than maximum stiffness.

Is ClearWeld UV resistant enough for outdoor use?

ClearWeld is UV resistant, but direct sunlight will yellow it over time. That is acceptable for an outdoor repair where appearance does not matter, but for a visible clear joint in full sun, expect discoloration. Shading the repair or painting over it once cured will slow the yellowing.

The resin and hardener only cure when they are mixed together, so residue on a tube tip will not glue its cap shut as long as you keep the two sides separate. Wipe each tip with its own clean paper towel rather than a shared one.
